Bruce Pearl, head coach of the Auburn Tigers men’s basketball team, criticized Kamala Harris for her “socialist, woke progressive beliefs.”

Pearl made his comments referring to a post by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), where the Republican called Harris “extreme” for reportedly wanting to end private health insurance.

“Kamala Harris is so extreme she wants to kick you off the health insurance you get through your job. Like a true San Francisco radical, she wants everyone—even illegal aliens—on a government plan,” Cotton’s post said.

“Thank you for pointing this out Senator Cotton, except my guess is that like many of her socialist, woke progressive beliefs she’s now changing them or hiding them to get elected! We won’t get fooled again!” Pearl said.

Pearl faced criticism for his remarks, with some critics calling his post “racist.”

“To all Black ballplayers and their parents considering @AuburnMBB, this is the trash @coachbrucepearl tweets. There are many other SEC schools to consider. Choose accordingly,” Roland Martin said.

USA Today columnist Dan Wolken also questioned Pearl’s views with a tweet of his own.

“Serious question: Has NIL changed the game to such an extent that a college coach can say stuff like this on social media and not fear any negative recruiting impact in households where the VP is likely quite popular?”

One fan on Wolken’s feed brought up Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr speaking at the Democratic National Convention and publicly endorsing Harris, saying that he is allowed to express his political views as is Pearl.

“I guess you’ve missed the point,” Wolken responded on X. “Steve Kerr doesn’t have to convince families to send their teenage kids to a college campus for personal and professional development in a highly competitive recruiting environment.”

“The last few Democratic Presidents have gotten elected by moving to the center and campaigning like they were going to govern for ALL AMERICANS and instead governed far to the liberal left! Changing positions to get elected is wrong! We won’t get fooled again!” Pearl previously said.

On Sunday, Pearl also lamented the Biden administration’s lack of effort to solve the border crisis under border czar Kamala Harris’ leadership.

“And the White House could have shut down or slowed down illegal immigration at the southern border with Executive action anytime they chose..not just 6 months before an election!” he wrote. “We won’t get fooled again!”
