Professor notes:“We wouldn’t see people walking around campus with firearms. That would be scary.”

Perhaps if someone would have been allowed to carry a gun on campus this situation would have been a LOT LESS scary!

MMartinez -CNN: Stark accounts are emerging, this one from an earwitness: Umpqua Community College astronomy professor Paul Morgan heard the gunshots. He lives a half mile away. The gunfire clearly wasn’t from hunting: “There were only four shots,” he tells CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “The only thing that was odd was that the shots were rapid.” The campus forbids any firearms. In fact, security officers are unarmed on campus. “We wouldn’t see people walking around campus with firearms. That would be scary,” Morgan says. He received an email from the school at 10:42 a.m. that warned “active shooter” and “stay put,” he says.

An officer responding to the shooting at Umpqua Community College said over the scanner, “The suspect is down. We have multiple gunshot wounds. We are going to need multiple ambulances on scene.”

MMartinez -CNN: “The shooter is deceased”: The man behind Thursday’s shooting at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College is dead, Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin says.

Investigators are looking at social media postings made by a man, thought to be in his late 20s, who they believe is the suspect in the shootings, a source with knowledge of the investigation tells CNN. The night before the attack, the alleged shooter appears to have had a conversation with others online about his intentions, the source says. Via: CNN
