Of course, the Muslim powers that be are saying it couldn’t possibly be someone serious about the threat:
“We have been seeing that even in our official Facebook page where people post stuff where they are explaining that all Muslims are ready to kill homosexuals and they are ready to marry 9-year-old girls and stuff like that,” he said.
But…police are taking this very seriously…
About 100 cars in Repentigny have been vandalized with stickers in recent days demanding Quebecers convert to Islam or face the consequences.
The stickers have a man in a turban holding a gun beside an ISIS flag on them and read “Quebec is Allah’s land” and “You must convert, or else…”
“To me, it seems whoever did that was probably serious in their intentions, but I think it was a waste of time,” said Etienne Blais, who found one of the threatening stickers on his car’s windshield. “There’s no way something like that would work here.”
The cars were all parked in lots on Brien Blvd. and Valmont St. Police say witnesses spotted four people wearing burqas leaving one of the parking lots.
Repentigny police say they are taking the incident very seriously and are working with provincial police to investigate.
Haroun Bouazzi is a spokesperson for the Association of Muslims and Arabs for Laicite, a group that supports the separatation of church and state in a secular model similar to that of France. He says wouldn’t be surprised if the threatening stickers are the work of someone looking to embarrass or shame the Muslim community.
“We have been seeing that even in our official Facebook page where people post stuff where they are explaining that all Muslims are ready to kill homosexuals and they are ready to marry 9-year-old girls and stuff like that,” he said. “After watching the Facebook account, we understand pretty fast that it is not a Muslim at all.”
