During his speech at the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) National Convention in Dallas, Donald Trump reportedly told the crowd: “I want to move to Texas and I want to retire in Texas.”

“A lot of people are moving to Texas,” he added.

Daily Mail reports:

While it’s unclear if Trump’s declaration was serious, he visited the southern state 18 times while he was in office, and 13 times since he lost the 2020 election.

Trump famously ditched New York during his presidency, switching to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, which is also a tax haven.

The former commander-in–chief was welcomed by Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who told they crowd they needed to fire Biden and send Trump back to the White House.

While they were never on the stage at the same time, Trump showed his appreciation for the governor who was named one of the Time magazine’s 100 most influential people after capturing the spotlight by busing migrants from the Texas-Mexico border to cities like New York, Chicago and Denver.

In the midst of the New York witch hunt, Trump will return to Dallas this week for a campaign fundraiser.

From The Dallas Morning News:

Days after he addressed the National Rifle Association convention at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, former President Donald Trump is returning to Dallas for a campaign fundraiser Wednesday.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to Trump’s presidential campaign, the Republican National Committee and 41 state GOP parties but not the Texas party, according to seven people with knowledge of the event.

There will be 16 hosts, including Dallas businessman Ray Washburne and his wife, Heather. Washburne served as president and CEO of the Overseas Private Investment Corp. under Trump from 2017-19 and as a member of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board for Trump.
