Who could’ve imagined that on election day 2014, the American voter would give the GOP a majority in both the House and Senate, making Obama’s Fundamental Transformation possible…
In a “Dear Colleague” letter addressed to congressional Republicans, Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) warns against rushing to deliver disastrous trade bills to President Obama’s desk by voting for cloture on Tuesday morning.
The vote would shut down debate on three secret, international compacts that would encompass as much as 95 percent of the world’s GDP and rip control of U.S. visas out of our hands. Obama wants to sign bills for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), and the Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA).
Once Obama signs fast-track trade authority, he would then order the executive branch to force Congress to pass new legislation that would invalidate U.S. laws that contradicted the global trade agreement—again, an agreement kept secret from the American people and their elected representatives. These bills cannot be debated for more than 20 hours, let alone filibustered, modified, or made subject to the Senate’s two-thirds rule on passing treaties.
“Fast-Track authority would implement thousands of pages of rules concerning up to 9/10ths of the world’s economy with less Congressional scrutiny than provided to a Post Office reform bill,” Sessions wrote.
TiSA itself concerns nearly 50 nations, including the Muslim countries of Turkey and Pakistan. Why lawmakers are eager to make the world’s only superpower’s visa program subject to oversight from a backwater, Third World hellhole that sheltered Osama bin Laden is a mystery. What is clear, however, is that TiSA would tighten the grip that the General Agreement on Trade and Services (GATS) has on our ability to choose who emigrates to the U.S.
In what’s perhaps the logical conclusion of Ted Kennedy’s ruinous Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, countries hostile to America will determine U.S. immigration policy, not American voters whose jobs and very lives are threatened by mass immigration.
It’s worth noting that the Muslim immigrants who carried out the September 11 attacks came to the U.S. on visas after submitting garbled, fraudulent documents that the State Department rubber-stamped, then overstayed those visas with impunity while they plotted their terror attacks. The TiSA would give Muslim countries greater reign to flood us with more Muslims, whose beliefs and murderous hatred for non-Muslims are inimical in every way to American life.
What’s more: These trade agreements can be rewritten by member nations after the U.S. adopts their controls on its economic and immigration policies. The U.S. would be held hostage to the whims of countries and peoples who have no regard for American interests. Turkey could decide it wants the U.S. to accept an inflow of 50,000 workers each year indefinitely, and the U.S. would have to meekly obey. The secretive Pacific Union would hand down its edicts to Congress, who again could not debate them for more than 20 hours or amend them, and would be forced to issue a mere “yea” or “nay” vote.
An aggressive president, Sessions warns, could enforce the Union’s whims with executive orders and ignore Congress, single-handedly shaping the country to great effect.
