First the high school coach sends out a vile tweet asking: “Who’s going to Walkerton, IN to burn down #memoriespizza w me?” and now the full force of the gay mafia has descended upon this family business. Keep in mind, the owners never said they had a problem with serving gays, they simply said it would violate their religious beliefs to cater a gay wedding.

Memories Pizza, the Indiana pizzeria caught up in controversy over gay marriage and the state’s religious freedom law, has closed down tonight after receiving an avalanche of threats. In comments to a local news station, the family-owned restaurant made it clear that they would not cater gay weddings.

It’s worth pointing out here that they did not specifically say they wouldn’t serve gay people in their establishment, just that they would not cater a gay wedding. (And, again, it’s worth asking the question of exactly which gay couples in Indiana would want a pizza restaurant catering their wedding in the first place.)

Well, the wrath of the internet came down upon their establishment, with Yelp users trolling the hell out of Memories Pizza and they even got threats over the phone and on Facebook. And so, as a result, they’ve had to close down.

Owner Kevin O’Connor spoke to Fox News tonight and said, “Because I don’t believe in something that they want, they see fit to be angry about it… It’s just been ugly. I don’t know what to call it.”

He closed down the restaurant because they’re not sure which orders are real and which are fake or threats, and he’s not sure if or when he’ll re-open. Via: Mediaite

A GoFundMe account has been started to help the O’Conner’s with their loss of business. At the time this article was posted, they have already had over $40K raised by over 1,000 donors: http://www.gofundme.com/MemoriesPizza

And what is it with the gay community and all of the hate? Just look at some of these hateful, intolerant comments on Yelp.tw1tw2

And one more thing, how is it that the gay community has managed to turn a hateful thread into a pseudo dating service while posting half nude pictures of themselves along with their oh so clever remarks?tw4

And then there are those few who were brave enough to offer words of encouragement to the owners of Memories Pizzeria on Yelp:tw6
