A Collier County, Florida teacher was dismissed from teaching after a Facebook post displaying her views on “Day Without Immigrants” protest garnered a protest of its own from parents.  Veronica Fleming, a Parkside Elementary computer lab instructor, linked to a Chicago Tribune story about the nationwide protest and voiced her opinions.

“The funny part about immigrants staying home is the rest of us who pay for them are here at work like we’ve always been. Looks like less mouths to feed today. Have fun while you still can. So glad to hear about massive deportation. Let’s make America great again. Thanks Donald Trump!”

According to the Naples Daily News the post didn’t sit well with the parents, 96% of whom are minorities.

“Comments from parents included “My feelings are hurt for our kids, I couldn’t even believe it.” Another parent said “I was mad. Really, really mad, I would consider it really to be racist.”

District officials removed Fleming from the classroom and reassigned her to the district administrative center while they look into the situation.
