As President Trump continues to develop a platform for his 2024 Presidential run, he unveiled a plan to address so-called ‘gender-affirming treatment’ that includes gender reassignment surgery and giving hormones to minors.
The issue is one that potential rival Ron DeSantis has focused extensively in during his tenure as Governor.
Trump offered up his own platform that included preventing the federal government from promoting gender-affirming care for minors as well as federal funding.
He also proposed making it illegal for minors to receive gender-affirming care.
In an even more significant step, he said that hospitals and care facilities that give minors gender-affirming care would not be eligible to receive patients who are on Medicare or Medicaid.
“I will declare,” Trump continued, “that any hospital or healthcare provider that participates in the chemical or physical mutilation of minor youth will no longer meet federal health and safety standards for Medicaid and Medicare, and will be terminated from the program immediately.” He said.

“The left-wing gender insanity being pushed on our children is an act of child abuse,” Trump began. “On day one I will revoke Joe Biden’s cruel policies on so-called gender-affirming care … a process that includes giving kids puberty blockers, mutating their physical appearance, and ultimately performing surgery on minor children.”
Trump vowed to sign an executive order instructing all federal agencies to halt any program that promotes the very idea of sex or gender transitions at any age. He also said his administration would work with Congress to put an end to federal funding of the aforementioned procedures and make them illegal for children in all fifty states.
