Kamala Harris is expected to announce her running mate Tuesday ahead of her rally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
On Sunday, Harris met in person with three of her vice presidential candidates.
According to NBC News, a source said Harris met with the following individuals:
- Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro
- Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz
- Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ)

Per NBC News:
Other candidates who have been on the vetting list include Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
Former Attorney General Eric Holder, who led the vetting process for Harris’ campaign as part of his role as senior counsel at Covington and Burling LLP, was seen at the vice president’s residence at the Naval Observatory on Saturday and Sunday.
Two sources familiar with Harris’ thinking said she needs and wants to find someone who will be comfortable following the lead of a woman and particularly a Black and Indian woman. That running mate will need to be comfortable taking on tasks they may not like (like how Harris took on the root causes of migration) and will need to be comfortable being in Harris’ shadow as her running mate.
Harris’ team is aware that she got this nomination in an unconventional way and allies want whoever she chooses to be loyal and not seek to undermine her position now or come 2028.
A source familiar with the campaign’s thinking said the campaign is particularly interested in someone who will appeal to demographics and the voters that Biden would have brought to the table including older white voters and suburban women.

From Reuters:
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has narrowed her search for a vice presidential running mate to two finalists, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, three sources with knowledge of the matter said on Monday.
Harris, the U.S. vice president, is expected to announce her selection by Tuesday, ahead of her first scheduled public appearance with her running mate that evening at Temple University in Philadelphia.
It was unclear if a final decision has been made, the sources said. The rally will kick off a five-day, seven-city tour of battleground states likely to decide the Nov. 5 election.
The choice of a running mate is one of the most consequential decisions of Harris’ political career, as she hastily pulls together a campaign to challenge Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and U.S. Senator JD Vance, his vice presidential pick, in the Nov. 5 election. Vance will also make a campaign stop in South Philadelphia on Tuesday.
