A massive fire at a recycling center in Arkansas prompted an emergency response and shelter-in-place order.
“A shelter-in-place order has been issued as multiple fire departments, hazmat teams, and emergency crews respond to a massive 3-alarm fire in Rogers, Arkansas. The fire is at Marck Industries, Inc., a recycling center located across the street from Carter Field Rogers Airport,” Rawsalerts wrote.
“Heavy, thick toxic smoke is visible from over 20 miles away. Officials are urging everyone to avoid the area. So far, no injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire remains unknown. This is a developing situation,” the post added.

“Public Safety Alert. Hazardous Smoke Warning. Large fire on the NE side of Rogers. Additional: People with respiratory problems, Elderly, and children are recommended to seek shelter and shelter in place,” an alert from local authorities stated, according to KOAM News Now.
“We are on the scene of a large fire in our city. The crews on scene are working diligently to get the situation under control. Our 911 center is being inundated with calls on both the emergency and nonemergency lines,” the Rogers Fire Department said, the outlet noted.

From the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette:
Firefighters from Rogers, Bentonville, Pea Ridge and Cave Springs responded around 3 p.m. to the blaze at the Marck Recycling plan at 3507 N. Arkansas St. in Rogers.
One civilian suffered was injured in the fire, according to Don Lisi, spokesman with the Rogers Police Department.
A worker at the plant said the blaze started with a bale of cardboard that caught fire.
A Facebook post from the Rogers Police Department said some roads in the area were completely shut down around 4:30 p.m. and advised motorists to avoid the area.
Smoke from the four-alarm fire could be seen as far away as Bentonville and Pea Ridge in Benton County and Fayetteville in Washington County.
Lisi said officers are on the scene gathering information, but there was no further information available by 4:45 p.m.
