On Wednesday, Infowars and its parent company Free Speech Systems will go up for auction in a court-mandated sale.

According to CNN, there’s already a “seven-figure” bid on the table.

The outlet reports a supporter of Jones wants to buy the platform so the host can continue broadcasting under new ownership.

Per CNN:

That bid is from an individual described as an “ally” of Jones, who wants the host to continue broadcasting on the Infowars platform he founded under new ownership, the person said. It was not immediately clear who had placed the bid.

Jones has said multiple times that his supporters are placing bids for his company, which is being auctioned off to help pay the more than $1 billion he owes the families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims. Jones was found guilty of defamation by juries in Texas and Connecticut for using his Infowars megaphone to falsely claim the massacre was a hoax.

Over the years, Jones has not only used the media platform to push vile lies and conspiracy theories, but also to enrich himself to the tune of millions of dollars. But the seven-figure bid from a Jones ally raises the prospect that a well-funded outside buyer could purchase the company only to install Jones as its host and effectively hand control back to him.

Everything from the platform’s studio equipment, online dietary supplement store, a Terradyne armored truck, Winnebago motorhome and its social media accounts are up for sale to the highest bidder.

Austin American-Statesman reports:

The auction resulted in Jones’ bankruptcy case in 2022, and some of Jones’ personal assets are being liquidated to help pay the damages as well.

Both opponents and supporters of Jones have publicly expressed interest in bidding on Infowars, with his supporters vying to possibly hand the reins back to Jones as host. One of those supporters is Roger Stone, a long-time political adviser to President-elect Donald Trump.

On his show Monday, Jones said auctioneers were inside the building and surveying to ensure everything was there.

“Now good guys say they’re gonna buy it,” Jones said on his show. “If the good guys buy it, Infowars will continue.”

Opponents of Jones who have expressed interest in buying Infowars include satirical news site The Onion, CNN reported. The Onion CEO Ben Collins covered Jones and Infowars while working as a journalist at NBC. In June, Collins posted a meme of Elon Musk saying he was “looking into it” as a response to a user writing that Collins should purchase Infowars.

CNN also reported that The Barbed Wire, a Texas-based progressive outlet, confirmed that it planned to bid for Jones’ platform. Semafor reported in September that progressive media watchdog outlet Media Matters also expressed interest.

“The Infowars Liquidation Auction Has Officially Closed! Alex Jones Provides Important Update,” Alex Jones wrote.
