Ford is recalling over 312,000 vehicles in the United States because of a potential loss of power brake assist while driving.

“The Electronic Brake Booster (EBB) module may enter into a faulted state while driving, resulting in a
loss of brake boost until the EBB module completes a sleep cycle when the vehicle is off. This faulted
state can also occur when the driver is utilizing an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) feature,” a safety recall report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) read.

“An unexpected loss of brake boost while driving can result in increased stopping distance, which
increases the risk of a crash. If a loss of boost occurs during an ADAS request for braking, this can
increase the risk of a crash,” the report continued.

“The EBB motor is susceptible to normal but infrequent voltage disturbances. A voltage drop and
recovery can lead to a momentary current surge exceeding the EBB module over-current monitoring
limits, causing the EBB motor to shut down,” it added.

The recall affects certain 2025 Lincoln Navigator, F-150, Expedition, Bronco, and Ranger vehicles.

The agency flagged that the Electronic Brake Booster (EBB) module might fail while driving or using the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) feature, causing a loss of power brake assist.

As a remedy, the EBB module software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge, NHTSA said.

“Notification to dealers is expected to occur on August 11, 2025. Mailing of remedy owner notification
letters is expected to begin August 25, 2025, and is expected to be completed by August 29, 2025. The
date VINs are planned to be searchable is July 28, 2025,” NHTSA stated.
