A deadly shooting in  Fargo, North Dakota left two officers critically injured and one officer dead.

The suspect of the shooting was also shot dead in a shoot-out but Fargo police have yet to release his name.

According to police, the shooting occurred on a busy street in South Fargo, North Dakota, on Friday afternoon.

A civilian was also seriously injured in the shooting but is expected to recover.

As of right now, the motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.

One police officer was killed and two others were critically injured in a shooting that also left the suspect dead on a busy street in Fargo, North Dakota, police said.

A civilian also was seriously wounded in the shooting that happened just before 3 p.m. Friday, police said in a late-night statement that provided no details on how the shooting unfolded or on a possible motive. Many witnesses said they saw a man open fire on officers before other officers shot him.

One woman said she was driving when she saw the officers fall.

Emergency crews rushed to an area of south Fargo Friday afternoon for reports of rapid gunfire, KVLY reports.

Fargo police said one officer has died and two others were in critical condition as a result of injuries sustained during Friday night’s incident.

The suspect, who has not been named, also died as a result of a shooting and one civilian was seriously injured, according to Fargo police.

Witnesses told KVLY it started after a traffic collision on 25th Street South near 9th Avenue South.

Police have yet to release information about the events leading up to the shooting, but witnesses said they heard more than 40 shots, likely from an automatic weapon.

On Friday evening, law enforcement were seen filing in and out of an area hospital with a group of officers gathered outside of the emergency room.
