The hits keep coming for United Airlines.

The Chicago-based airline had another flight experience an emergency situation Saturday morning.

Flight 2137 on Airbus 320 was heading to Salt Lake City International Airport when it had a maintenance issue.

The aircraft returned to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport after a possible oil warning light issue occurred.

149 passengers and five crew members were on board at the time.

It’s the fifth incident for United Airlines this week.

From ABC 7 Chicago:

A United Airlines flight had to return to O’Hare Airport shortly after takeoff Saturday morning.

The flight from Chicago was headed to Salt Lake City, Utah.

United said there was a maintenance issue with the plane.

The flight landed safely back at O’Hare.

This is the fifth incident involving a United flight since last Monday. One of those involved a wheel falling off a plane.

United Airlines has had a flurry of debacles this week.

Let’s go through them one-by-one.

First, a United Airlines’ Boeing plane made an emergency landing in Texas minutes into its flight after flames erupted from one of the engines.

Dramatic footage showed flames bursting from the engine shortly after takeoff from Houston.

The airplane’s engine reportedly ingested bubble wrap, the airline said.

Also, a United Airlines Boeing 777 lost a tire shortly after taking off from San Francisco International Airport.

The Japan-bound plane was diverted to Los Angeles International Airport.

“At approximately 11:35 a.m., United Flight 35 departing to Osaka lost a portion of landing gear tire during takeoff,” a United representative said, according to ABC 7.

The falling landing gear from the United flight damaged multiple vehicles in the San Francisco International Airport parking lot.

The plane landed at Los Angeles International Airport around 4:30 p.m.

United Airlines Experiences 4th Emergency This Week, Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing In Los Angeles

The New York Post reports:

An onslaught of incidents involving Boeing aircraft have happened recently, starting in January when an Alaska Airlines plane saw its door plug rip off mid-flight.

An FAA expert panel previously ripped Boeing’s “lack of awareness of safety-related metrics at all levels of the organization” in February.

However, Boeing told The Post Saturday it is “closely monitoring the situation and will provide any support needed to United Airlines and the investigators.”

The handful of incidents this week have made customers fearful, with one X user wondering if it’s “safe to book.”

“What’s going on with United Airlines?” they wrote on the social media platform.

“Well that gives me a warm fuzzy feeling knowing it’s the 4th emergency this week from United Airlines,” one joked, referring to the Mexico flight incident.

“Wow. What’s up with airline maintenance these days?” another asked.

United said in a statement it takes “every safety event seriously and will investigate each of the incidents that occurred this week to understand what happened and learn from them.”

“Much of this work is conducted together with the manufacturers, the FAA, and the NTSB as well as with the manufacturers of individual components. While this work is ongoing, each of these events is distinct and unrelated to one another. Safety is our top priority, and we’ll continue to do everything we can to keep our customers and employees safe.”
