A passenger on an American Airlines flight boarding a flight in Honduras to Florida stormed the cockpit today while passengers were boarding the flight. Once inside the cockpit, the passenger broke the flight controls and then tried to jump out of the window in the cockpit. The American Airlines pilot tried to stop him.

The American Airlines flight was leaving San Pedro Sula in Honduras and was headed to Miami, FL.

ABC’s Sam Sweeney tweeted about the breaking story:

Ariel Sierra tweeted a video that showed the chaos on the American Airlines flight. Under the video, he included an image of the damaged cockpit. It’s not clear if Sierra was a passenger or if the video was given to him by someone on the scene.

American Airlines, along with all of the other major airlines, have been forced to cancel thousands of flights since Christmas. It’s not clear if the airlines are canceling flights over lack of pilots, flight attendants, and other staff members who’ve been fired over their refusal to be vaccinated or if the cancellations are due to a shortage of fully vaccinated workers with COVID.
