Another Florida Republican lawmaker has joined the others who have publically endorsed former President Donald Trump, raising concerns for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s supporters about whether or not he has a chance at a 2024 presidential run.

According to a Yahoo News/YouGov poll, Trump is leading DeSantis by 26 points, his largest lead against the likely 2024 GOP primary challenger.

So far, 6 Republican lawmakers from DeSantis’ home state of Florida have endorsed Trump for re-election, the latest of whom is Rep. Greg Steube who announced his support for Trump on Monday.

“I’m happy and honored to endorse Donald J. Trump for president in 2024,” Steube said in a Newsmax interview. “He’s the only person who can reverse on day one all these disastrous policies of the Biden administration and the type of things that have happened under the Biden administration would’ve never happened under President Trump. We need to right all the wrongs that have happened under this administration.”

Steube added that Trump is “widely supported” in his district in Florida, citing Trump’s “America first” agenda as a major reason for his support.

The Florida rep. added that many residents want Gov. DeSantis to finish out his term instead of campaigning against Trump.

“Governor DeSantis just recently got elected,” said Steube “He hasn’t even been re-elected for six months. I would hope that he would continue to concentrate on the great job he is doing in the state of Florida.”

“I hear from constituents all the time that want him to finish out his term,” Steube added.

Trump has also been formally endorsed for the GOP nomination by Florida Reps. Byron Donalds, Matt Gaetz, Anna Paulina Luna, and Cory Mills.

Endorsements have also come from Tennessee lawmakers, including Sen. Bill Haergy and Marsha Blackburn, as well as Reps. John Rose and Diana Harshbarger.

On Monday, Blackburn tweeted, “Under President Trump, our economy was booming, gas prices were low, and inflation was under control. Our border was secure, our adversaries feared us, & our military was strong. I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for President and can’t wait until he’s back in the White House.”
