Remember when Arnold Schwarzenegger had everyone believing he was a conservative?

Arnold Schwarzenegger used to joke that only “girlie men” opposed energetic capitalism and traditional American values. But now, the former bodybuilder, Hollywood star, and California governor is apologizing for popularizing the phrase.

Schwarzenegger once made a name for himself with his he-man political style, making fun of his opponents as weaklings who could not lead.

At least as early as 2004 Schwarzenegger called California Democrats “girlie men” and noted that in the next election the GOP would “terminate” them.

Watch Schwarzenegger bring down the house at the 2004 RNC convention when he told the audience, “Don’t be an economic girlie man!”

These amusing taunts and his strongman persona eventually led Schwarzenegger to the governor’s mansion in California.

But since the day he took over as the Golden State’s chief executive Schwarzenegger slowly but surely started straying from the very style that so enthused his supporters. And now it seems that the “Governator” has completely abandoned his masculine terminology.

In a new interview with Men’s Health magazine, Schwarzenegger is abjectly apologetic over his “girlie men” taunt.

“At the time it felt like the right thing to do. It was in my gut. I improvised it. I called them girlie men because they weren’t willing to take risks,” the actor told the magazine.

“They were afraid of everything,” he explained. “Politicians, in general, want to do little things, so there’s no risk involved.”

But, today there are regrets. Schwarzenegger now says his rhetoric was counterproductive. “It was shortsighted. In the long term, it’s better to not say that, because you want to work with them.” –Breitbart News

Twenty-one years ago, Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered a child with his housekeeper while married to Maria Shriver.

Arnold Schwarzenegger told People Magazine that he’s still working to put the mistake behind him.

Mistake?

Here’s a picture of Schwarzenegger’s “mistake”, Joseph Baena, 20 years later. Perhaps Schwarzenegger should worry less about using the term “girlie men” and think about using the term “mistake” to describe a young 20-year-old man who grew up with out a father.

“You do think about it every so often,” The Celebrity Apprentice host reveals in Men’s Journal, adding, “And I can beat myself up as much as I want — it’s not gonna change the situation. So the key thing is, how do you move forward? How do you have a great relationship with your kids?”

The affair came to light the day after he left the California governor’s office in 2011. In a therapy session with his wife Maria Shriver and their four children, the actor confirmed he fathered a son with their maid Mildred Baena. Their child, Joseph, was 14 at the time. Shriver filed for divorce shortly after the revelation.
