Although comedian Bill Maher has dedicated much of his HBO series “Real Time” to trashing President Donald Trump over the past decade, he has also been among the few leftists willing to call out the absurdities on his own side.

As he recently revealed, singer Kid Rock has helped negotiate a White House meeting between him and Trump, which is set to take place at some point in the future.

When speaking about the planned sit-down during an episode of his “Club Random” podcast, Maher preemptively called out the anti-Trump voices he expects will criticize his decision to speak with the president.

According to Fox News:

Kid Rock was a guest on Maher’s HBO show “Real Time” last month and is a strong supporter of Trump. Maher has long been a fierce critic of Trump but has stood out among progressives with his criticism of so-called wokeism and calls to better understand Trump’s supporters.

Maher predicted liberals on the left will be angry about meeting with Trump, but he didn’t care.

“And there will be lots of people on the left who will be like, ‘How dare you talk to this man.’ It’s like f— you, I’m not playing this game that you mean girls play,” Maher said. “‘Oh, you know what? You can’t sit at my lunch table, because I’m just not talking to you.’ Not talking to you? You lost the election. Who the f— do you think you have to talk to?”

“It’s one thing if you win it. It’s another thing if you lose it,” he added.

As he predicted, the replies to a post from the Daily Beast promoting its story on the upcoming meeting included a number of disparaging statements from his anti-Trump critics:

Mediaite also covered the recent development:

Kid Rock, a vocal supporter of the president, had recently mentioned this potential meeting in an interview with Glenn Beck.

“I’m actually going to try and unite this country and I’m starting at the end of the month I’m taking Bill Maher to the White House for dinner. This guy who has done nothing but talk smack about the president since day one,” he said, adding he hopes it sends a “message” of unity to the country.

Maher, almost as vocal of a critic of Trump’s administration as Rock is a supporter, dismissed any liberal critics that were taking issue with his White House visit, calling them “mean girls.”

Here’s some coverage of another notable example of Maher’s willingness to rail against the far-left:
