Bill Maher and S.E. Cupp slammed George Clooney last night because he called for a boycott of “swanky” hotels owned by the Sultan of Brunei.

Clooney published an article that called for the boycott because of the country’s anti-gay policies under Sharia Law.

In the Deadline article, George Clooney said he wants Hollywood to boycott the Sultan of Brunei’s nine luxury hotels. The Beverly Hills Hotel is one of the most iconic and popular in Hollywood, but Clooney called for people to avoid going there because of the Sharia Law that allows gay people to be stoned to death.

“Every single time we stay at or take meetings at or dine at any of these nine hotels we are putting money directly into the pockets of men who choose to stone and whip to death their citizens for being gay or accused of adultery,” Clooney wrote.

Maher told S. E. Cupp that Clooney’s call for a boycott really bothered him because he feels it’s “tokenism” and doesn’t include the entire Arab world of Sharia Law like Saudi Arabia and the UAE:

“It’s chickens**t tokenism…What about Saudi Arabia? If you really want to get back to them, stop driving, don’t use oil.”

“It’s Sharia Law, which is some version of the law in most Muslim-majority countries. And if you want to be against that, you know, speak openly and honestly about standing up for liberal principles.”

Maher’s point is that Clooney shouldn’t pick and choose which Muslim countries he boycotts but should boycott all that practice Sharia Law.

A previous boycott was called for when the Sultan began enforcing Sharia Law. Jay Leno’s wife spearheaded a protest outside the hotel in 2014, but nothing changed.

Who knew that Maher would side with what conservatives have been saying all along. Sharia Law has no place in America.
