If you’ve ever watched the old classic “Lassie” on tv, you’ve seen some pretty spectacular saves by the actor dog. This video, however, posted by WBFF Fox 45 shows a real-life rescue scene of a quick-thinking border collie dog who risked its own life to save his little chihuahua friend.

According to the Daily Caller – The dogs’ owners were playing with their pets outside before one of them got in her car and reversed onto her snow-covered driveway.

The Chihuahua then wandered off, directly into the path of the car, before the Border Collie seemingly flew into the scene from out of nowhere and grabbed her furry friend by the neck to save it from injury.

The video is so incredible, it’s already been viewed 6.8 million times and it’s only been posted on the WBFF Fox 45 Facebook page for 9 hours!

According to Pets Tech-In the US alone approximately 1.2 million dogs are killed on the roads each year. The number of cats killed on the roads in the US every year is much higher at an approximation of 5.4 million*.

In most of these cases, the dog was hit for a relatively simple reason considering the facts. The dog cannot be seen by the motorist and the driver only spots the dog once it is too late. Even if you have a light colored dog, at night every dog becomes a hidden target.
