The House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning Kamala Harris as ‘border czar’ as she ramps up her presidential bid.

The resolution, introduced by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), passed in a 220-196 vote.

Six Democrats voted ‘yes’ to condemn Harris for her failures on the border.

According to the New York Post, the Democrats who voted yes included “Reps. Yadira Caraveo of Colorado, Henry Cuellar of Texas, Don Davis of North Carolina, Jared Golden of Maine, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington and Mary Peltola of Alaska.”

“My resolution condemning Kamala Harris’ failure as Joe Biden’s open border czar passed overwhelmingly in the House and garnered support from SIX Democrats. There is no denying that Harris FAILED the American people by overseeing the most catastrophic border crisis in our nation’s history,” Stefanik said.

From the New York Post:

Another 214 Republicans voted with the Democratic detractors. All of the “nay” votes came from the rest of the House Democratic caucus.

“Harris and every elected Democrat owns this historic border crisis that has turned every community into a border community,” said Stefanik (R-NY). “It is time that we return to President Donald Trump’s border security policies that put the safety of American citizens first.”

“At our Northern Border in the Swanton Sector, I have seen firsthand with the Border Patrol the disastrous consequences of Kamala Harris’ failed Far Left open border agenda which caused a historic surge in illegal crossings like we have never seen at our Northern Border before including individuals on the terrorist watchlist,” added Stefanik, whose district covers upstate New York.

“6 Democrat Members of Congress VOTED YES to condemn Border Czar Harris — even her own Democrat colleagues know Kamala Harris is a TOTAL DISASTER!” Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez (R-FL) said.

POLITICO reports:

Stefanik announced the measure almost immediately after Biden endorsed Harris to take his spot on the November ticket Sunday.

It’s one of the few proposals to go after Harris that has received wide backing in the House GOP. Conservatives have floated several other ideas, including trying to impeach Harris or launching a new sweeping investigation, but those would likely derail given centrist pushback. Some Republicans also still want Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment against Biden, but a measure calling on her to do so has been met with intraparty skepticism.

The resolution on Harris’ border role is purely symbolic and has no shot at getting taken up by the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Meanwhile, House Democrats accused Republicans of trying to “slander” Harris and criticized that GOP lawmakers changed some text of the original bill. Part of it initially said Harris was tapped “to serve as the administration’s border czar.” Republicans changed it to instead say that Harris “came to be known colloquially as the Biden administration’s ‘border czar.’”
