Police and other emergency personnel are responding to reports of an active shooting at Michigan State University in East Lansing. There are reportedly multiple victims.

Monday evening, officers received calls about an active shooter near MSU’s Berkey Hall. When first responders arrived on the scene, they found multiple victims including at least two fatalities and one reportedly in critical condition.

In an alert posted to Twitter, MSU Police and Public Safety wrote, “MSU ALERT: There have been shots fired near Berkey Hall on the East Lansing campus. Please secure-in-place immediately. Police are active on scene. More information to follow.”

A potential suspect has been sighted with a long gun running toward MSU’s Owen Hall. Another call came to the police shortly afterward reporting a suspect near Evans Hall.

Shots have also been reported near the student dormitories Snyder Hall, Phillips Hall, McDonel Hall, and Hubbard Hall.

The suspect has been described as a “short male with a mask, possibly Black.”

The suspect is still at large. Shots continue to be reported at various locations around campus.
