Van-life blogger and Instagramer Gabby Petito, and her fiance Brian Laundrie took off for a cross-country adventure in a converted van on July 2, 2021. The couple lived together in North Port, Florida. The last time her family heard from her was on August 25.

Insider reports -They had been dating since March 2019 and got engaged in July 2020, according to posts on both Petito’s and Laundrie’s Instagram accounts.

She wrote: “Brian asked me to marry him and I said yes! @bizarre_design_ you make life feel unreal, and
everyday is such a dream with you 🤍.”

And he wrote: “My biggest fear is that one day I’ll wake up and it will have all been a dream, because that is what every second has felt like since the moment we found each other. Till death do us part or until I wake up, I’m so happy the answer was yes, Love you hunny.”

But on Wednesday, Petito’s mother Nichole Schmidt told the Daily Mail she believed the couple had called off their engagement ahead of the trip because they were too young to marry.

Also on August 12, Petito and Laundrie got into a physical fight in Utah, according to a police report
Officers from the Moab Police Department said they responded to a potential domestic violence incident between Petito and Laundrie on August 12 after a man identified as Christopher contacted police.

The responding Officer Daniel Scott Robbins followed the van and eventually moved to pull it over, noting that the van was traveling 45 mph in a 15 mph zone, according to the police report. Then, the officer observed the van cross a double yellow line, switch lanes, and swerve to the right, colliding with the curb.

When Robbins approached the van, he found Petito crying in the passenger seat. He wrote in the report that she cried and breathed heavily during their conversation. She told the officer she had been arguing with Laundrie and that she was struggling with her mental health.

Laundrie also told the officer of an “emotional strain” and ongoing arguments between her and Petito. According to the police report, Laundrie said Peito struck him when she thought he was going to drive away in their van following an argument.

Gabby’s parents reported her missing on September 11, after not hearing from her for several days.

Petito’s boyfriend, who returned home without her on September 1 is now missing.

A manhunt has begun for him near his parent’s North Port, Florida home.

New York Post – Authorities are probing whether a cellphone photo taken Friday of a man cops say looks a “heck” of a lot like the boyfriend of missing Long Island woman Gabby Petito is indeed Brian Laundrie, who vanished this week after being named a person of interest in the case, The Post has learned.

The photo was snapped just before 5 p.m. Friday on Targee Ave in North Port — about two blocks from Laundrie’s parents’ home, metadata from the image reveals.

The image shows an apparently bald-headed, clean-shaven man with what officials suggest is a similar build to Laundrie casually walking in flip-flops and wearing headphones. The Post has not been able to identify the man in the photo.

Cops are aware of the photo — and are investigating, said Josh Taylor, the spokesman for the North Port Police Department.

The man in the photo appears to have tattoos on his left arm, which Laundrie does not, noted Taylor.

The image, taken by passerby Zachary Randazzo, was snapped about an hour and a half before investigators from the North Port Police Department showed up at Laundrie’s parents’ home after their attorney called the FBI to report him missing, metadata from the image shows.

The FBI has now confirmed that the body found in a Wyoming national park is likely that of missing Long Island native Gabby Petito.

“Earlier today, human remains were discovered consistent with the description of Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Petito,” Jones said. “Full forensics identification has not been completed to confirm 100 percent that we found Gabby, but her family has been notified of this discovery.”

“The cause of death has not been determined at this time,” he added.

“We will continue to work with the FBI in the search for more answers.”

Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue confirmed earlier Sunday that authorities had discovered a body at Bridger-Teton National Forest, where FBI, National Parks and local law enforcement officials have been searching for Petito since last week.
