On Monday night, Eric Trump appeared on Fox News and revealed that he will release the surveillance tapes from the FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago “at the right time.”
It has been reported that the FBI allegedly requested that Mar-a-Lago’s security cameras be turned off during the raid, a request that was ultimately refused. While the cameras were initially turned off by Mar-a-Lago staff, Trump’s lawyers quickly intervened and turned them back on, stating that the FBI did not have the authority to order such a thing.
Donald Trump and his family were therefore able to watch the live feed of the raid from Trump Tower as it was occurring.
Speaking to Fox News host Sean Hannity, Eric Trump expressed his frustration with the timing of the FBI raid, saying “We’re 90 days out, Sean, from the midterms. It’s not surprising – this timing is not surprising and it’s backfiring on these people.”
Hannity then asked Trump, “You still have the surveillance tape, is that correct? Will you – Are you allowed to share that with the country?”
“Absolutely Sean,” replied Trump. “At the right time.”
Trump did not elaborate on when he would consider releasing the tapes from the FBI raid.
Trump then went on to talk about how law enforcement officers, including the FBI, should be wearing body cameras for total transparency.
“That’s why cops wear body cams,” Trump said. “They don’t tell you to turn off cameras, they want transparency and that’s not what happened here.”
Hannity then asked if Trump knows for a fact that the FBI asked that the security cameras be turned off, which Trump then confirmed.
