There is no word yet on how the fire on the 50th floor of Trump Tower in NYC was started, but so far, Fox News is reporting that the deadly fire has claimed the life of at least one 51-year-old male and injured four firefighters.

At least one person died and four others were injured after a fire broke out in Trump Tower in New York City on Saturday, police and fire officials said.

A 51-year-old male who was “unconscious and unresponsive” was removed from the 50th floor by the FDNY, police said. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His identity was not released pending family notification, police said.

The FDNY previously said that one person who was inside the apartment was critical, adding that four firefighters also were hurt.

We found fire on the 50th floor of the building,” FDNY Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro said. “The apartment was entirely on fire. Members pushed in heroically, they were knocking down the fire and found one occupant of the apartment who is in critical condition.”

Former NHL player Brian Lawton tweeted the following video that was allegedly taken at the scene of the fire. Lawton describes the fire as starting out “small” and then “something happened” and the fire was “doubling in seconds”.

Nigro went on to describe the fire as “difficult” and said the high rise “had a considerable amount of smoke.”

UPDATE: The latest report is that the fire is now contained.

President Trump tweeted that the fire “is out” and that the “Firemen (and women) did a great job.”
