Famous Cheers actress Kirstie Alley passed away Monday after losing a fight with cancer. Alley was 71, and her cancer had only recently been discovered.

Her children, True and Lillie Parker, posted a memorial on her Twitter page, saying she inspired them to live to the fullest. They went on to ask for privacy as they grieved her loss,

“To all our friends, far and wide around the world…. We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered.

She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.

We are grateful to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at the Moffitt Cancer Center for their care. Our mother’s zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did. We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time.”

Alley was a beloved actress known for roles in several films; among them are Star Trek 2, Cheers, which won her an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award, and Look Whose Talking, which she starred in with John Travolta.

Travolta shared a touching memorial saying,  “Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again.”

Actor Tim Allen also shared about Alley, saying, “A sweet soul pass on in Kirstie Alley. Sad, sad news. Prayers for all her family.

Alley was known for being a free-thinker, a rarity in Hollywood and was not afraid to announce her support of  President Trump. She tweeted in October 2020,

“I’m voting for @realDonaldTrump because he’s NOT a politician,” Alley continued, “I voted for him 4 years ago for this reason and shall vote for him again for this reason. He gets things done quickly and he will turn the economy around quickly. There you have it folks there you have it.”

President Trump posted a tribute to Alley on Truth Social, “Kirstie was a fantastic person and a big supporter of America First & MAGA. She will be greatly missed!!!

Alley was also unafraid to call out Covid fear-mongering. She accused CNN of  propagating fear saying she decided to watch for herself to understand what was happening to her friends,

“I now Know why my personal friends who walk around in SHEER TERROR of contracting Covid are simply CNN viewers! I decided to watch CNN myself to get a their viewpoint and oh my God DID I EVER!!!! IF YOU TOO WANT TO LIVE IN TERROR WATCH CNN!! FEAR OF DYING IS THEIR MANTRA! OMG,” Alley tweeted.
