The Supreme Court just ruled that thousands of illegals who had been allowed to stay in the U.S. for “humanitarian reasons” will not be able to become permanent residents.

The ruling was unanimous (9-0) and came after a married couple (pictured below) from El Salvador filed suit in federal court after being blocked from applying for green cards. The couple entered the U.S.illegally in the 1990s but were given Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

The case involves Jose Sanchez and Sonia Gonzalez from El Salvador (above), who entered the US twice illegally

In the unanimous ruling of Sanchez vs. Mayorkas, liberal Justice Elena Kagan wrote: “A grant of TPS does not come with a ticket of admission. It does not eliminate the disqualifying effect of an unlawful entry.”

There are hundreds of thousands of illegals with TPS, and this ruling by the Supreme Court will impact their ability to become permanent residents as it should be.
