On Monday night, Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin, 24, suffered a scary injury during the first quarter of the team’s Week 17 Monday Night Football matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
At 8:55 pm, after tackling Bengals receiver Tee Higgins, Hamlin got to his feet but immediately fell back to the ground, seemingly lifeless. Medical personnel immediately attended to the fallen player, administering CPR until he could be removed by ambulance.

As the ambulance came onto the field, Hamlin’s teammates gathered around him. Some could be seen in tears, praying for him.

The ambulance left the field with Hamlin and headed to the hospital around 9:25 pm. He has been transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The game has been officially postponed by the National Football League as Hamlin’s condition remains critical.
In a statement by the NFL, the league said,
“Tonight’s Buffalo Bills-Cincinnati Bengals game has been postponed after Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin collapsed, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced.
Hamlin received immediate medical attention on the field by team and independent medical staff and local paramedics. He was then transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.
Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
The NFL has been in constant communication with the NFL Players Association which is in agreement with postponing the game.”
