Dem. Leader Nancy Pelosi is in a whole bunch of trouble with her far left base because she backed down today in order to approve border funding legislation in the House.

A bipartisan coalition of Democrats and Republicans approved the important border funding that now sends the  $4.6 billion bill to President Trump’s desk.

The far left group of Democrats including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were pushing to include restrictions on immigration enforcement. Pelosi had to cave to the pressure from moderate Democrats who agreed with Republicans that the assistance needed to be ok’d ASAP. Pelosi now risks a backlash from the far left base in the House.

After the Senate had demonstrated bipartisan support by approving the bill yesterday, the pressure was on Pelosi to do the same so she brought the Senate bill to the floor.

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez said “Hell no” to the bill that Pelosi brought but she lost out in the end.

It’s great to see both the House and Senate working together for once.

Of course, Pelosi wrote a letter to colleagues explaining her decision and tried to make it seem like this is all the fault of Republicans. Shameless!

“In order to get resources to the children fastest, we will reluctantly pass the Senate bill. As we pass the Senate bill, we will do so with a Battle Cry as to how we go forward to protect children in a way that truly honors their dignity and worth.”
