Only moments ago, a surprising tweet from President Trump appeared on Twitter. The message, written in Farsi*, is a notification to the world that 3 innocent Iranians are about to be executed for the crime of protesting against the radical Iranian regime.

The Persian translation of the tweet reads: Three people have been sentenced to death in Iran for participating in protests. Their execution is expected at any moment. The execution of these three people sends a deplorable message to the world and should not be done. #اعدام_نکنید

President Trump followed up his first tweet with another tweet, this time in English:

Three individuals were sentenced to death in Iran for participating in protests. The execution is expected momentarily. Executing these three people sends a terrible signal to the world and should not be done! #StopExecutionsInIran

Amir Aarsham tweeted the images and names of the three protesters, Saeed Tamjidi, 26, Mohammad Rajabi, 28, and Amirhossein Moradi, 26, who are scheduled to be executed while thanking President Trump for bringing this human rights issue to the attention of the world:

The Guardian reports on the three Iranian protesters who are scheduled to be killed for protesting their terrorist government.

Iran’s judiciary has upheld the death penalty for three men accused of involvement in last November’s massive anti-government protests, sparking an outcry from human rights groups and a swell of activism against capital punishment on social media.

A spokesman for the Iranian judiciary told an official website on Tuesday that an appeal against the sentences had failed for the trio, who say their confessions were “extracted under aberrant conditions”, according to their lawyers. The lawyers say they have been denied access to the case.

The three men, Saeed Tamjidi, 26, Mohammad Rajabi, 28, and Amirhossein Moradi, 26, were arrested during one of the largest protests in the history of the Islamic Republic, triggered by a threefold rise in petrol prices amid an ailing economy suffocated by US sanctions. Rights groups have estimated at least 300 protesters were killed in the demonstrations and more than 7,000were arrested.

Iranian Mehdi Mirghaderi thanked President Trump for bringing attention to the planned execution of three young protesters. He also blasted the European Union for ignoring the human rights atrocity for supporting the criminal behavior of Iranian leaders through their silence.

As an Iranian, I say: You are the only leader in the world who said: Iranian Lives matter. Thank you, President Trump and shame on the European Union and all human rights organizations that support the criminal Islamic Republic of Iran. #StopExecutionslnlran

*The original title of this article mentioned that President Trump tweeted in Arabic, and should have instead said he tweeted in the “Farsi” language.
