Last week, following Rep. John Ratcliffe’s brilliant questioning of former special counsel Robert Mueller, President Trump announced that the “highly respected Congrressman John Ratcliffe of Texas will be nominated by me to the Director of National Intelligence.” Ratcliffe was slated to replace the current director, Dan Coats.

The leftist and Never-Trump media immediately went on the attack. Mollie Hemingway of The Federalist, immediately came to the defense of Ratcliffe, by pointing out the credentials of the NBC reporter who was attacking the conservative congressman.

Today, President Trump annoucned that Rep. Ratcliffe, who is “being treated very unfairly by the LameStream Media” has decided to decline his offer. Trump explained, “Rather than going through months of slander and libel, I explained to John how miserable it would be for him and his family to deal with these people…. (continued below)

Ratcliffe was in the news last week for his intense questioning of Robert Mueller.  He admonished the former special counsel for not following the special counsel regulations by writing about decisions that weren’t reached:

“…respectfully, respectfully, director, it was not the special counsel’s job to conclusively Donald Trump’s innocence or to exonerate him because the bedrock principle of our justice system is a presumption of innocence. It exists for everyone. Everyone is entitled to it, including sitting presidents. And because there is a presumption of innocence, prosecutors never, ever need to conclusively determine it.”

Ratcliffe appeared on Fox News to speak with Maria Bartiromo about the Mueller Report and Spygate, following his spectacular questioning of Mueller:
