Dems hammer Republicans on their planned vote to allow the Confederate flag in national parks.

House Republican leaders have canceled a planned vote on an amendment that would have reversed previously-passed provisions barring the display of the Confederate flag in national parks

The move comes after Republicans acknowledged they did not have the votes to pass the amendment, and Democrats hammered the GOP for considering the change in the first place.

“This was an attempt to codify the Obama Administration’s own directive to our national cemeteries and it is unfortunate that it has devolved into a political battle. It is our hope that we can have a thoughtful discussion on this matter that is free of politics,” a GOP leadership aide said.
