The Democratic Party is not helping itself when its members are caught in scandals and find themselves under investigation. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and her entire office are now facing investigation after the way they handled the confidential letter provided to Feinstein from Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s first accuser, Christine Blasey Ford.

According to Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), Feinstein’s office will be investigated in hopes of determining who leaked Ford’s letter to the press, with the Intercept being one of the first publications to publish about it. The letter was to remain confidential per request of Ford, but it clearly became public and ended up in the hands of someone in the press, likely a leftist leaning publication/website.

Sen. Cotton also stated that lawyers who were recommended to Ford are also facing investigation by the D.C. bar for what they did to Ford. They allegedly did not tell Ford that the Senate Judiciary Committee offered to travel to California to interview her regarding her accusations against Kavanaugh.

During Ford’s testimony last week, she made it seem like she did not know that the committee would fly out to her. She expressed a fear of flying, even though she flies all the time. Many of us watching her testimony thought she was playing silly when she acted like she had no idea that the committee would travel to her. When Ford delayed the questioning that was set for a Monday, people had thought she was stalling to get her story straight. Technically, it was not Ford stalling. It was allegedly her attorneys who are working pro-bono and are apparently quite friendly with Democrats. So basically, the attorneys didn’t tell Ford that she could have answered questions about the situation from home. Her own lawyers made her fly across the country so they could get another few days to gather dirt on Kavanaugh and plan their next move. That’s my thoughts and I believe many will agree.

Cotton speaking about Ford said, as per Politico: “They have betrayed her,” Cotton said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “She has been victimized by Democrats … on a search-and-destroy mission for Brett Kavanaugh.”

He also said Democrats would be at fault if women become less likely to report sexual assaults now because they did not keep Ford’s request confidential, as she had asked.

“Any impact that this entire episode has had,“ Cotton told John Dickerson, “on women’s willingness to come forward and report sexual assault, which I encourage them all to do immediately after it happens, is caused by the Democrats, is caused by Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer not respecting her requests for confidentiality.“

Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, had received a letter from Ford some months ago describing the incident with Kavanaugh but had kept the material confidential, as requested in the letter. At some point, information about Ford was leaked to the press, though the California Democrat denied that she or her office were responsible.

The FBI investigation into Ford’s sexual assault allegation against Kavanaugh is unlikely to bring any new evidence to light, Cotton said, adding that the Judiciary Committee had already conducted interviews and/or received letters from people that Ford said attended the gathering at which the alleged assault occurred.

“We already know what everyone at the party has said,” he said, adding that the investigation will likely make a few senators more comfortable about voting to confirm Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court.”

Sen. Cotton makes a good point. The people who were asked questions and who submitted written letters under risk of penalty are unlikely to magically have any other information. What else will people say that they haven’t already said under risk of being in legal trouble for telling lies.

The FBI’s job is to investigate. Brett Kavanaugh has faced a reported six background checks and there was nothing of any sort to suggest that he had anything but an extremely clean record.

It’s not a mistake that the letter written by Ford, a Democrat, made its way into the hands of a Democratic Senator, and then into the hands of a leftist leaning publication. Make no mistake about that, it was all likely part of the plan.

Ford wanted the letter confidential and she was betrayed by a Democrat who leaked it to the press.

If that isn’t a calculated and shameful play, then what is?

They used her.

She’s being used to destroy a man with a perfect history just so Democrats can stall until 2020 and try to prevent Trump from giving a right-winger a seat on the Supreme Court.

Democrats don’t want that, but they had a chance for Ruth Bader Ginsburg to retire while Obama was president.

Ginsburg refused to retire and once said she’d like to work until she’s 95. Her desire to work that long actually hurt the Democrats who could have solidified a Democratic seat on the Supreme Court had she retired under former President Obama. Her personal interests have now harmed her party. Does anyone in that party think about others, or are they all this greedy and selfish?

Maybe the Democratic Party should participate in more honest politics instead of using and abusing people to push their party agenda.
