We’ll keep you updated on this case of yet another police officer who’s died while serving the community.

A Shreveport Police spokesman has confirmed that one of their officers has been killed in a shooting in Shreveport’s Queensborough neighborhood. It happened while the officer was responding to a prowler suspect call around 9 p.m. in the 3500 block of Del Rio Street. That’s near Lakeshore and Jewella.

Immediately after officers arrived on the scene, they were searching cars in the Del Rio Street area, redirecting traffic and denying access to motorists.

By midnight, authorities had surrounded a home in the 3400 block of Judson Street where a suspect was possibly hiding. Meanwhile, multiple law enforcement agencies are assisting SPD. They include officers from Bossier, Caddo, DeSoto and Louisiana State Police.

“Last night, we lost one of our brave, uniformed officers in the line of duty. Our hearts are saddened,” Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler said. “We ask for the community’s prayers for this officer’s family and SPD as we grieve the loss of one of our own who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the citizens of this city.”
