This is a developing story.
President Trump and other members of his administration have just been evacuated from the White House Correspondents Dinner after a shooter reportedly opened fire.
This is truly terrifying, but thankfully, it doesn’t appear that anyone was injured.
The New York Times has the latest update on the situation:
President Trump was rushed out of the White House correspondents’ dinner on Saturday night after several loud bangs were heard, and the Secret Service officers with guns drawn sprinted through the aisles to reach the president.
ADVERTISEMENTAccording to the White House press pool, a group of reporters who travel with the president, a member of the Secret Service shouted, “Shots fired.” There was no sign the president was hit.
Guests were about five minutes into the dinner hour when a commotion could be heard toward the back of the ballroom. Security officials then sprinted through the aisles toward the stage where the president was seated. Gasps were heard and then hundreds of attendees dropped under their seats at their tables.
Security officials with weapons drawn emerged on the dais as the president and the first lady, Melania Trump, were quickly escorted out.

At this time, we don’t have much information on who fired the shots.
But, TMZ reports that the shooter is now dead:
Someone fired shots in the lobby of the hotel where the White House Correspondents Dinner was being held, as President Trump and many high level members of the Administration were sitting front and center.
The shooter is dead … presumably killed by a Secret Service agent. No one else was hurt.
ADVERTISEMENTThe room was filled with members of the Administration …. President Trump, the First Lady, the Vice President, the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Secretary of the Treasury, Secretary of Homeland Security, among many others. Basically the Trump Administration was front and center.
Members of the media and other hid under dinner tables as everyone scrambled to learn what had happened.
We’ll continue to bring you further updates as they come in.
Please pray for the safety of President Trump and everyone else in attendance at tonight’s event.
