After numerous sexual harassment allegations against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, he has finally resigned and will vacate his office in two weeks. Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, a 62-year-old Democrat will become the first female to hold the office of governor in the state.

After a final hearing this morning, a defiant Cuomo spoke to announce his resignation:

“The best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to governing, and therefore, that’s what I’ll do.”

The governor has been under fire on two fronts. He’s been accused of sexual harassment, and he caused the deaths of 15k nursing home residents exposed to covid when Cuomo called for the covid-infected patients to be sent to the nursing homes in NY.

Cuomo tried to make excuses for his behavior with women blaming his actions on “cultural” norms he says caused him to be unaware his actions were harassment. Nice try, but that won’t fly with most people.

“I have been too familiar with people…In my mind, I’ve never crossed the line with anyone, but I didn’t realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn.”

The governor should be brought up on criminal charges because of the seriousness of the charges from women who he groped. Also, the deaths of thousands at nursing homes around the state of New York that Cuomo is responsible for should be brought up as criminal charges.
