The left went ballistic on Thursday when President Trump revealed that he didn’t have tapes of his conversations with James Comey. Trump explained why he hinted at the possibility of the existence of tapes during an interview on FOX News:

President Trump’s strategy was brilliant! The bottom line is that he just wanted to keep the former FBI Director honest. Trump wanted to protect himself by making Comey believe their private conversation was recorded in case he said something different when he testified before Congress earlier this month: “When he found out that there may be tapes out there, whether it’s governmental tapes or anything else, and who knows, I think his story may have changed. I mean, you’ll have to take a look at that.”
