Counter-terrorism experts are leading the investigation into a horrific terror attack that happened earlier today at a local church.

A Somali national ran into the Belfairs Methodist Church in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex today and attacked Conservative MP Sir David Amess, who was holding a meeting. The man had a knife and stabbed Amess multiple times. This is the second terrorist attack within days. This week, the first attack was by a Muslim convert who shot several people with a bow and arrow.

On October 12th, the popular longtime British lawmaker made an announcement before a meeting at the Methodist Church and asked for all interested to book an appointment:

Local Essex Police reported this afternoon that Amess had died after he was stabbed “about a dozen times.”

The suspect. 25, was arrested at the scene, and the area where the stabbing occurred has been closed off.

According to the Independent, “The murder is being treated at this point as a probable Islamist terror attack.”

The British lawmaker was 69 and a married father of five (photo below of his wife and three of his five children. He’s a Conservative who supported Brexit and voted against abortion and gay marriage.
