Netflix appears to be following in the footsteps of Cracker Barrel and Bud Light…

The streaming platform is getting a lot of backlash after its co-founder, Reed Hastings, gave a whopping $2 million to support California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s redistricting campaign.

This isn’t the first time Hastings has donated to a Democrat campaign.

But, his donation is key to the redistricting push.

Politico reported:

Netflix co-founder and Democratic megadonor Reed Hastings has given $2 million to help California redraw its House maps in the latest indication of the campaign’s outsize stakes.

Hastings is a stalwart supporter of Democratic causes and an ally of Gov. Gavin Newsom, who has championed the push to counter Texas’ GOP gerrymander with a new map designed to oust California Republicans. He also spent $3 million to help Newsom beat back a recall attempt in 2021.

A Nov. 4 special election will give Californians an up-or-down vote on new House maps, drawn in concert with national Democrats, that would help Democrats flip a half-dozen seats in next year’s midterm elections as the party seeks to neutralize Texas’ new lines.

Enormous sums have already poured into both sides of a race that has thrust California into the epicenter of American politics. Labor unions, wealthy Californians and House Democrats’ super PAC have already contributed millions of dollars while an affluent independent redistricting advocate, Charles Munger, Jr., has dropped more than $10 million to defeat the measure.

The campaign for Proposition 50 will lean on wealthy Democratic patrons like Hastings. Silicon Valley venture capitalist Ron Conway, a longtime ally of Newsom and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is also lending his support.

Now, plenty of MAGA patriots are canceling their Netflix subscriptions in response.

Take a look at these replies:

Some people are reporting that Netflix has also cut a multi-million-dollar deal with left-wing hack Stephen Colbert.

However, reports of the Colbert deal have not been confirmed at this time.

Netflix Junkie says it’s fake news:

News Hour, alongside many social media pages, reported recently that Stephen Colbert had signed a $13.5 million deal with Netflix, giving the streamer rights to chronicle his rise to fame in Tinseltown through a seven-episode docuseries. The claim, however, is nothing more than a hoax as there has been no confirmation of such a project, nor any indication of Colbert’s next move. The rumor, notably, follows the comedian’s much-discoursed impending farewell from CBS, leaving audiences eager to discover what is truly ensuing for him.

What are your thoughts?

Will you boycott Netflix for support Newsom’s redistricting plans?
