A 33-year-old Canadian woman living in New Jersey is in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody after she was arrested for allegedly striking a teenager wearing sweatpants with the words “Trump” and “ICE” on them.
The alleged incident occurred on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach during the Fourth of July weekend.
Kaitlyn E. Tracey allegedly “slapped the victim across her face and body,” Fox News stated.
Tracey allegedly approached a group of teens while recording them on her phone.

Fox News shared further:
Tracey reportedly did not jive with the group’s “patriotic colored sweatpants with political wording,” police said.
ADVERTISEMENTThe Point Pleasant Beach Police Department said it happened Friday night, July 3, during the start of the Fourth of July holiday weekend; surveillance video captured her allegedly “striking the juvenile female, once to the body and once to the face, with an open hand.”
She then ran off from the scene. Days later, Tracey was arrested on charges following an investigation into the case.
Police confirm Tracey is facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment, and obstruction.
Tracey, who is a Canadian citizen, came to the U.S. in 2024 with a passport, the report says.
Tracey’s husband, Matthew Geroni, posted an emotional plea on social media regarding the alleged incident.
“I need help. I don’t know what to do; my wife is being detained by ICE. My wife is a Canadian citizen, and I am an American citizen; we’ve been married for a little over three years. I’m just doing anything I can to get her story heard and bring any help and attention so that I can get her released, even if that means back to Canada,” Geroni said on TikTok, according to Newsweek.

Newsweek has more:
Newsweek completed a search through U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Online Detainee Locator System, which shows that Tracey is in ICE custody at Delaney Hall. Tracey’s husband confirmed it in a video shared to his Instagram.
“We are doing everything we can to help her and support her and get her out of there as quickly as possible,” he said.
Geroni said a GoFundMe fundraiser had been established for Tracey, but that it was taken down after it was mass reported by what he described as “MAGA supporters on Facebook.”
ADVERTISEMENTA fundraiser for Tracey on GiveSendGo had garnered $650 as of Wednesday afternoon.
“To ensure Kate can continue accessing the legal support she needs, we’ve established this new fundraising effort,” the sites reads. “Regardless of any municipal charges, every person deserves the right to fair, competent legal representation and due process. Access to an attorney should never depend on someone’s financial circumstances.”
Geroni claims “a lot of misinformation” had been disseminated regarding his wife. In another Instagram video, he insisted she didn’t evade police, that no one was hurt and that she later surrendered to authorities.
Geroni told the Asbury Park Press he last saw his wife on Monday when she turned herself into police. She was turned over to ICE after being held at the Ocean County Jail. Francis R. Hodgson, Tracey’s attorney, told the outlet she scheduled to appear in court on August 4.
