At his show on Wednesday, Chris Rock talked tearfully about his processing of being slapped by Will Smith at the Oscar’s.

From the Daily Mail:

‘Let me be all misty and s***,’ he said, with tears in his eyes.

‘I don’t have a bunch of s*** to say about that, so if you came here for that…’ he said, and paused.

‘I had written a whole show before this weekend.

‘I’m still processing what happened, so at some point I’ll talk about that s***. It’ll be serious. It’ll be funny, but right now I’m going to tell some jokes.’

Rock skirted the subject again in his second set but seemingly confirmed that he has not spoken with Smith since being smacked in the jaw on live television.

‘I haven’t talked to anyone, despite what you heard,’ Rock said.

For those who don’t know, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscar’s after Rock made a joke about Smith’s unfortunate wife. He was then, reportedly, asked to leave and refused to do so.

It has been revealed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that Will Smith was asked to leave the Oscars after slapping Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife. However, according to the statement from the Academy, Smith “refused” to leave.

In a newly released statement from the Academy issued to People magazine, “Things unfolded in a way we could not have anticipated. While we would like to clarify that Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also recognize we could have handled the situation differently.”

The usually rambunctious and energetic Chris Rock had no jokes to tell about what had happened that night, but the audience seemed to. Two audience members heckled Rock, shouting “Will Smith!” at the stage. One of these men was reportedly maced and dragged out of the theater by security. However, with all audience members having had to give up their cellphones to enter the theater, there is no video footage.

Will Smith’s slap seems to have left the comedian emotionally distraught. Reactions to the Oscar’s mishap seem to be mixed, and it is clear that not all parties involved enjoyed it. However, some still wonder if the whole thing was staged.

On April 18th the Academy next meets to determine the fate of Will Smith, and governors of the Academy claim to have already started disciplinary procedures against the aggressive actor.
