CNN went to Minnesota to talk to voters about if they plan to support President Trump in the 2020 presidential race. What they discovered was probably not what the result the anti-Trump network was hoping for.
“In rural northern Minnesota, things are changing, the temperature, the leaves, the politics” the segment starts out.
CNN’s national correspondent, Martin Savidge asks the mayor of Eveleth, MN, “Are we talking thousands of people sort of changing or shifting their politics?” Eveleth Mayor Robert Vlaisavljevich replied, “Yes, yes we are.”
The CNN narrator can be heard saying, “Once a Democrat stronghold, many of the voters we talked to say more and more, they align with the president.” One of the locals says that his wife’s two brothers were staunch union Democrats for years—not anymore, ” he said.
The Eveleth mayor tells the CNN reporter that it’s all about economics, “He’s our guy, he supports mining, he’s our guy” the mayor tells him.
The CNN narrator continues, saying Trump’s tariffs on imported steel, and easing of environmental issues are popular in northern MN residents. One thing that’s not popular is Somali-American Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and the influx of Somali immigrants. The mayor tells CNN, Omar “offends a lot of people.”
“I think they’ve changed, I see conservative candidates seem to be more for the working person,” says the wife of a miner in Minnesota. Another Minnesota resident tells CNN, “The Democrats have kinda shifted more to the left, and the Republicans are taking over as the party for jobs.”
In 2016, President Trump lost Minnesota by only 44,000 votes.
One female Minnesota resident says it best, “I don’t think this is a lock-down state for the Democrats anymore.”
Watch:
Trump’s pro-American policies are having a huge impact on the lives of the forgotten man and woman in America. While Democrats are promising to drain the bank accounts of American worker’s to pay for free education and free health care for everyone, including illegal immigrants, a massive new Green Deal scam, and reparations for Black Americans, President Trump is promising a better future for all Americans. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out who working Americans will choose in 2020.
