In a recent broadcast, CNN medical analyst Dr. Leana Wen implored the Biden administration to use the COVID vaccine as a means of holding the rights of Americans hostage. She suggested to Chris Cuomo that the best way to ensure all people get vaccinated is by restricting the freedoms of those who have not yet gotten the jab.

Wen wants the Biden administration to push even harder for restricting those who have not been vaccinated. While vaccine passports are in the process of development with the goal of limiting the ability to travel, she is hoping to see more definite lines drawn between those who are and are not immunized.

States are starting to reopen and allow slow returns to normal, pre-pandemic life. However, Wen views this as a negative thing because it takes away the primary ‘incentive’ to get the vaccine. In the CNN broadcast she said:

“We have a very narrow window to tie reopening policy to vaccination status, because otherwise if everything is reopened, then what’s the carrot going to be? How are we going to incentivize people to actually get the vaccine?… the CDC and the Biden Admin need to come out a lot bolder and say ‘if you’re vaccinated, you can do all these things, here are all the freedoms that you have’ because otherwise people are going to go out and enjoy these freedoms anyway.”

Apparently now our freedoms can be restricted if we don’t get a newly-introduced vaccine that has not undergone any long-term trials. Wen wants to use the vaccine as a bargaining chip for our rights as Americans,  withholding these rights in order to try and force people into getting the vaccination.
