Two Delta Air Lines flights faced delays Saturday at Salt Lake City International Airport after the jets “made contact” on the tarmac.

“A Boeing 737 struck a Airbus 320 as it was parked at the terminal,” KSL TV noted.

“Delta teams worked to reaccommodate customers to their final destinations after the wingtip of Delta flight DL2046 made contact with a parked aircraft at SLC. We sincerely apologize for the delay to their travels,” Delta said in a statement to KSL TV.

“Delta Air Lines Boeing 737-900 (N853DN) and Airbus A320 (N361NW) received minor damage in a ground collision at Salt Lake City-Intl AP(KSLC), UT. Both acft were in the holding area of runway 16L,” global aviation safety news account JACDEC wrote.

“While waiting in line as #3 for departure, the 737 attempted to overtake the preceding A320 using taxiway ‘H12’ when the left wingtip hit the tail of the A320. Both aircraft taxied back to the terminal and no one was hurt,” it added.

KSL TV reports:

Delta flight 2046, the B737 aircraft, was scheduled to fly to Bozeman, Montana with 109 passengers. Delta flight 2677 was scheduled to fly to Dallas/Fort Worth with 131 passengers.

There were no injuries reported on either flight.

Both flights were delayed overnight with customer care teams assisting the passengers. Both flights departed for destinations on Sunday.

Two separate flights were delayed at Salt Lake City International Airport after the wing of a moving aircraft “made contact” with a parked plane at the airport Saturday evening.

According to a spokesperson with Delta Air Lines, both flights were delayed overnight after the incident. The moving plane — which Delta said was a “B737 aircraft” with 109 customers on it — made contact with the parked aircraft on Saturday.

The parked plane was an “A320 aircraft” with 131 customers on it, but officials said there were no injuries reported on either of the planes after the incident.
