This is a hoot! Defense Secretary Jim Mattis was discussing the Russian aggression in Ukraine at the Reagan National Defense Forum when he let out a great one-liner directed at Russia’s Putin:

Watch below as Mattis doesn’t skip a beat when he says:

Mr. Putin “is clearly a slow learner”

The discussion with Brett Baier begins with the Russian aggression in Ukraine but the entire interview is great. Mattis even mentions towards the end of the interview that Baier doesn’t beat around the bush but goes straight to the heart of the matter.

“MR. PUTIN IS CLEARLY A SLOW LEARNER”

“Mr. Putin is clearly a slow learner. He is not recognizing that what he is doing is actually creating the animosity against his people. He is not acting in the best interest of the Russian people.”

“He is actually causing NATO to re-arm and strengthen the democracies’ stance, the unified stance of all the democracies together.”

“We are dealing with someone that we simply cannot trust. Russia doesn’t speak with one voice. We find that Russia, on the surface, tries to make certain very deceitful statements stick. They don’t stick. Their actions speak louder than words. And it has worsened the relationship.”
