While the Republican Party is more unified than ever, Democrats are defecting.

Democrat Congressman Jeff Van Drew is walking away from his Party because of impeachment. He plans on joining the Republican Party. The New Jersey Democrat is one of two Democrats who didn’t back impeachment.

Rep. Van Drew switched to the Republican Party after a lengthy meeting with President Trump on Friday. Politico is reporting that senior Democrats have been trying to reach Rep. Van Drew all day, but he is not responding to calls and texts.

Earlier in the week, Rep. Van Drew commented on how the impeachment was not bipartisan and that it was supposed to be:

“It was supposed to be bipartisan; it was supposed to be incontrovertible. It was supposed to be something that was always on the rarest of circumstances. Well, it’s not bipartisan.”

He is correct! Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi spoke out that the impeachment was supposed to be bipartisan:
