Democrat Virgin Islands Delegate Stacey Plaskett is being ridiculed on social media for accidentally saying that President Donald Trump “needs to be shot” while speaking about his classified documents investigation.

Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett (D-VI)

Plaskett, a Democrat Delegate to the House of Representatives, appeared on MSNBC’s Weekends with Jonathan Capehart on Sunday morning. During her appearance on the show, the delegate had an unfortunate slip-up while discussing the investigation into Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified U.S. documents.

“Having Trump not only have had the codes but now having the classified information for Americans and being able to put that out and share it in his resort with anyone and everyone who comes through should be terrifying to all Americans, and he needs to be shot – stopped,” said Plaskett.

“Of course, he’s going to have his day in court,” continued Plaskett. “Let’s remember that he was indicted by his peers – individual Americans who live in South Florida, a red state – they saw enough that there was probable cause for him to bring this indictment for him to stand trial.”

The 57-year-old delegate also addressed the Republican party’s claim that the “two-tiered system” of justice is to blame for Trump’s indictment.

“The two-tiered system is not to punish them more,” said Plaskett. “They want it to allow them to get away with more than everyday Americans… to make Americans believe that they, in fact, are above the law.”

After a clip of Plakett’s interview began to circulate on social media, people began calling for her to be held accountable for saying this on television. Some suggested she should be arrested, while others called for her to be removed from office.

Turning Point USA journalist Benny Johnson posted a video of this slip-up, saying, “One hell of a Freudian Slip…”

The founder of Students for Trump, Ryan Fournier, also shared the video on Twitter, saying “Lock her up!”

Steve Guest, a conservative communicator, commented on Plaskett’s mistake, saying “Imagine the outrage if a Republican said this about a Democrat.”

Plaskett has always been vocal about her opposition to Trump.

Last month, Plaskett declared that “MAGA Republicans are a threat to the rule of law in America.”

Prior to this, she served as an impeachment manager in the 2021 case against Trump, supporting the argument that Trump was responsible for the events of Jan 6.
