Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who’s running for Senate in California, was reportedly robbed in San Francisco just before a fancy campaign dinner.
Schiff’s luggage was allegedly stolen from his vehicle in a parking garage, forcing him to attend the dinner in casual wear.

Fox News reports:
According to The San Francisco Chronicle, thieves broke into his car that was parked in a downtown parking garage and stole his bags. Without business clothes to wear, Schiff still proceeded to the event in shirt sleeves and a hiking vest, according to the Chronicle, with others dressed in suits.
At the dinner, Schiff thanked attorney Joe Cotchett for supporting Schiff’s bid to replace the late Dianne Feinstein and represent California in the U.S. Senate.
“I guess it’s ‘Welcome to San Francisco,’” joked Cotchett’s press agent Lee Houskeeper, who was at the dinner at Ristorante Rocca, located in Burlingame.
During his own remarks, Schiff was reportedly unperturbed by the theft.
“Yes, they took my bags,” the California representative said, per the Chronicle. “But I’m here to thank Joe.”

🚨 Holy schitt. Rep. Adam Schiff was just robbed in SF, forcing him to show up at a meeting with no suit…
Yesterday, San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan's security detail was attacked on live TV.
On Saturday, LA Mayor Karen Bass was burglarized by a career criminal.
Karma is finally…

From the New York Post:
A photo from the restaurant obtained by the publication shows Schiff was the most dressed-down diner at his table.
The lawmaker was spotted standing up and offering remarks while wearing a long-sleeved shirt under a hiking vest.
But despite the car burglary and subsequent wardrobe emergency, Cotchett said Schiff didn’t seem bothered.
“Adam really showed himself tonight,” Cotchett told the Chronicle. “He’ll be a great senator — he’s going to change the Senate tremendously.”
San Francisco has gained national attention in recent years for its rampant crime, especially car break-ins.
In one 30-day period last year, the city saw a whopping 1,670 car burglaries.
