A Democrat representative revealed she is working with fellow congressional Democrats to restructure a moderate coalition into an Antifa group.

Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA), along with Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME) and Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK), is reportedly restructuring the “centrist Blue Dog Coalition into an ‘antifascist rural’ group,” Fox News reports.

According to Fox News, Gluesenkamp Perez said at a “Postcarding and Conversation” event last month that they’re rebuilding the group after it lost some of its membership last year.

“They basically lost some of their membership before we came in, and we are sort of rebuilding it into – Mary, Jared, and I – are rebuilding it into this sort of antifascist rural [group],” Gluesenkamp Perez said.

Fox News reports:

Used by Gluesenkamp to describe the group’s work, the word antifascist is typically shortened in political language today to Antifa

The comments made in private by Gluesenkamp Perez, who won election to represent Washington’s 3rd Congressional District last fall, came just days before the trio of Democrats embarked on a publicity tour to tout the Blue Dog Coalition’s alleged revamped moderate agenda.

Earlier this week, in a profile outlining the ambitions of the coalition under its new leadership, The Washington Post amplified the trio’s message and insisted they are looking to “stage a comeback for moderates” by heading up the group that has seen its membership continue to dwindle.

“I do not think that, at its core, the trades community and rural communities are truly in the long term as well-served by modern Republican ideology. I believe it really is the Democratic Party that, in our history, believed in your rights to organize, the dignity of work,” Gluesenkamp Perez told the Post. “Those are the things that we want to see return. It’s not just about flipping seats for us. It’s about the long work of turning the train around and getting back to place-based politics and not focus grouped, Twitterati agendas.”

According to The Post Millennial, all three Democrats are considered vulnerable to have their seats taken in the 2024 election cycle.

From The Post Millennial:

All three of the representatives are listed as targets by the Republican National Congressional Committee to have their seats taken in the House. The comments come as 15 members left the group earlier this year over internal disagreements on how to grow the group.

Antifa, short for antifascists, is a far-left organization that causes chaos and violence to force their political goals. In January, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said she would introduce legislation to declare the group as a domestic terrorist organization.

There are currently 10 House Democrats that are registered members of the Blue Dog Coalition.

Despite Gluesenkamp Perez’s private comments about turning the Blue Dog Coalition into an ‘antifascist rural’ group, the House Democrats’ website claims the coalition appeals to moderates.

The website states the Blue Dog Coalition represents the “center of the political spectrum, appealing to the mainstream values of the American public.”

“The Blue Dogs are dedicated to pursuing fiscally-responsible policies, ensuring a strong national defense for our country, and transcending party lines to get things done for the American people,” the Blue Dog Coalition page reads.
