This speaks volumes about former Vice President Kamala Harris’ popularity within her own party.

Former Rep. Mary Peltola, a Democrat who is running for the U.S. Senate in Alaska, just rejected Kamala Harris’ endorsement.

How embarrassing is that?

Ahead of the upcoming Senate primary in Alaska, Kamala Harris’ ‘Fight for the People’ PAC sent out an email urging people to support Mary Peltola.

But, Peltola didn’t want any part of it.

Her campaign team responded by saying they did not approve of that email and do not need Harris’ backing.

The New York Post reported further:

“Alaska is a must-win Senate seat for Democrats to retake control of the Senate,” Harris wrote in a fundraising email, urging the public to “help Mary Peltola get the support she needs” by splitting a donation between Peltola’s campaign and the ex-veep’s Fight for the People PAC.

Harris continued, “So if there’s anyone who can flip Alaska and secure the Senate majority for Democrats – it’s Mary. But she cannot do it alone.”

“When we all stand behind Mary, we can give her the boost she needs to overcome their spending and organize across Alaska,” the former vice president added.

Peltola, a former congresswoman who flipped Alaska’s at-large congressional seat blue in 2022, was not interested in Harris’ support.

“Mary isn’t seeking endorsements from anyone from the Lower 48 — her focus is and always will be Alaska,” a campaign spokeswoman told the New York Times.

The outlet said the Peltola campaign did not approve the fundraising email.

Notably, Kamala Harris lost Alaska to President Trump in 2024 by a stunning 14 points.

And, Mary Peltola did not endorse Kamala Harris in her presidential campaign.

But, despite Peltola’s attempts to distance herself from the disgraced ex-Vice President, Republicans were quick to point out the two politicians’ connection.

From The Hill:

Republicans quickly moved to link Peltola to Harris, who lost Alaska to President Trump by 13 percentage points in 2024.

Nick Puglia, a spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said in a statement that the former congresswoman worked “hand in hand with Kamala Harris to put Alaska last, so it’s no surprise that Harris is backing Peltola.”

Peltola’s brief term in Congress overlapped with Harris’s time in office.

Sullivan’s campaign also piled on, telling the New York Times in a statement, “No matter how hard Mary Peltola tries to hide from the endorsement, Alaskans can see exactly whose team she and Kamala Harris are on.”

Peltola’s campaign, however, insisted it did not seek the endorsement from Harris and had no knowledge of the fundraising email prior to it being sent, according to a New York Times report.
